Josselyn House
Blodgett Hall houses the departments of anthropology, economics, psychology, sociology, education, and religion with specialized resources and laboratories for each of these disciplines. Within a stone's throw of Blodgett is the Wimpfheimer Opened in 1912, Josselyn had the distinction of being the first residence hall on campus to have showers. They were a vast improvement over the 16 bathtubs in Main that so impressed Vassar students when the college opened. "I took a splendid bath today," said one of the first, writing home to her parents. Olivia Josselyn House was the gift of Mrs. Russell Sage, who named the building in honor of her mother. With its U-shaped construction and its battlements, Josselyn resembles Jewett without the tower. Every spring, Josselyn residents sponsor Heaven and Hell, a campus-wide bash featuring winged "angels" and red "devils" partying in venues with appropriate décor. School, a laboratory school for students studying developmental or educational psychology.
