Learning Globally

LEARNING GLOBALLY: For many seniors, life after Vassar means either work or graduate school. But for three fellowship recipients, the next stop involves traveling to places like China, the Netherlands, and Australia to investigate everything from the effects of animal therapy on children with autism to studying graffiti on the Great Wall.

STUDENT FELLOWS: At Vassar, residence halls are called “houses” rather than “dorms” and instead of RAs, there is a house team of faculty, staff, and students. Dorm loyalty is fierce, and students often live in the same house for several years. Student fellows make up part of the house team, and these sophomores are trained and assigned to small groups of first-year students.

Serving Locally

SERVING LOCALLY: When Vassar Student Association (VSA) president Jimmy Kelly ’09 walks into his student office every day, he sees two giant posters of Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. “I like to think they keep watch over me,” Kelly says. “I’m driven by what they’ve done.” At just 21-years-old, Kelly himself has a list of accomplishments that seems to grow by the day…

BACK IN THE GAME: Vassar College has always been able to offer prospective student-athletes the promise of an excellent education.
