Guidelines For Optional Art Submissions

If you have devoted a significant amount of time to an art form which you plan to continue at Vassar and which you would like to have our faculty evaluate as part of your application for admission, please complete the Vassar Arts Submission Form and follow the guidelines below:

OrchestraArt: Please submit 10-20 samples of your work on 35 mm slides. All slides should be in a plastic 8 1/2" x 11" view sheet. Please be sure to indicate which side is the top of the image. Label each slide with name, DOB, title, and dimensions of the work. CDs with photos of artwork may be submitted, but in past years CDs have often arrived damaged and unreadable, therefore slides are the preferred format. Photography portfolios will also be accepted, but please organize work in a small binder or folder and label all materials clearly.

Music: Please submit an audio CD or tape with brief samples of your performances or compositions. Include 2 different pieces (3-5 minutes each) and clearly indicate the title and composer of each work. We strongly encourage students to submit solo or accompanied classical or jazz performances. Please do not send submissions of popular music or include recordings of yourself in an ensemble such as a choir or rock band. Only send materials for vocal recordings if you are featured as a soloist. Label your submission with name, DOB, musical instrument or voice, and title/movement of composition.

Dance: Dance submissions should be a brief (3-5 minutes) selection from a performance. Submissions must be DVD or VHS tape format. The applicant must be clearly identified if submitting a group performance. Label your submission with name, DOB, and dance form (e.g. jazz, ballet, modern, etc.). Do not send more than one dance submission.

Thank you for your interest in Vassar. We look forward to reading your application.
