Guidelines for Optional Art, Music, and Dance Submissions
If you have devoted a significant amount of time to music, art, or dance and you plan to continue it at Vassar, you may submit examples of your work as a supplement to your application.
Materials (digital pictures, music or performance files) may only be submitted electronically through https://vassar.slideroom.com or via the Portfolio section on the Common Application website. Materials mailed to the Admissions Office will not be evaluated by faculty.
Due to high interest and the significant amount of faculty time required to do careful evaluation of portfolios, Vassar will not be able to accept examples of student work in film, drama, or creative writing.
Thank you for your interest in Vassar. We look forward to reading your application.

What if I check the box on the Common App indicating I would like to submit a portfolio and then I change my mind?
If after checking the box to submit a portfolio on the Common App you decide not to send in your materials, your application will still be complete. Portfolios are optional components to the application and are not required for any applicant. We will not contact you to submit it, and you do not need to contact the Admission Office in this case.
May I submit two different music portfolios?
Slideroom will not allow you to submit two different portfolios in the same artistic area. However, you can submit one portfolio with two different pieces/instruments.
Example: If you would like to submit one vocal piece and one violin piece, just submit them under the same music portfolio.
If I missed the deadline for the portfolio, can I still submit my material?
Unfortunately, if the deadline for Slideroom has passed, the program will not allow for any more submissions. However, you may email the Admission Office a link to your material as part of the “Your Space” section of the application. While it will not be evaluated by faculty, it will be viewed by admission officers.
If I made a mistake while submitting my portfolio or submitted it in the incorrect round, how can this be corrected?
Please contact admission officer Kelly Harrington.
How do I know that you received my portfolio?
The checklist only displays required application components, and the portfolio is optional. You may contact admission officer Kelly Harrington to verify that the Admission Office has received your portfolio.
For all other questions, please contact admission officer Kelly Harrington.
